UX Conference Opps and April Event Follow-up

ModevUX 2014

With ModevUX starting this upcoming Monday, you have only a few days left to take advantage of RichmondUX’s 25% registration discount. It’s looking like it’ll be a great event, and we hope to see you there! Our promo code is UX14RUX.

Giant Confererence

Fellow RUXster (and planning committee member) Bogdan Stanciu has a ticket for the upcoming conference in Charleston that he cannot use. As it was purchased early, it is available for $200 less than the current price. The conference runs June 11-14 and looks like another great event. Take a look and reply or DM him at @bog_dan if you are interested in going.

UserFocus 2014

Our friends at UXPA D.C. are ramping up for this fall’s UserFocus conference, and there are lots of opportunities to get involved already:

  • The call for proposal submissions is open but closes soon (June 1st), and they are seeking proposals from both new and experienced UX practitioners.
  • Every conference requires the help of volunteers, and UserFocus is no exception. If you’d like access behind the scenes and a chance to give back to the community, consider volunteering to review submissions or to help out at the conference itself.
  • Last but not least, early registration is now open!

Follow-up to April’s Meetup

Whether you were able to attend last month’s presentation, Eye-tracking and the User Experience: What You Need to Know, featuring Jen Romano Bergstrom, we wanted to follow up with a few details:

April Event Update / Perks / Jobs Page

Those of you already signed up to attend this month’s event, “Eye-Tracking the User Experience of Mobile,” with Jennifer Romano Bergstrom are already in for a treat, but we wanted to let everyone know that there will be some great door-prizes. For those who attend, we will be giving away the following:

For those who haven’t stopped noticed the additions to our meetup site, RichmondUX has taken on a new sponsor (Loop11, offering a free usability test for RUX members) and members receive discounts for both bmoresponsive (May 9th, Baltimore, code RICHMONDUX) and ModevUX (use code UX14RUX). Check out our sponsorship page for these and other perks as they become available.

Last, but not least, we have added a jobs page to our site at richmondux.com. Currently, we are showing jobs from Capital One, Carmax, the Federal Reserve, ICF Interactive, and WillowTree.

2014 is shaping up to be a great year for UX in Richmond. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions, ideas, or feedback.
